Travelling in a crisis

We yesterday event in Boston, it made me think of all those efforts that organization are doing “in case” of a disaster happen. Those processes usually involved security, health and HR.

There is no magic way to do this, and when something like this happen you can only realize how important it is to have a process in place. No matter who you are, we care about each other. We are all human being, and no one wish to be cut in a disaster.

As much, as I want to believe that technology can help us. Those processes usually are pretty basic and are down to a phone call. But please while making that phone call, do not assume an individual is okay until you actually speak to the person. There is nothing like a live and quick voice discussion to confirm the state of someone. This individual might be physically healthy but under a shock. That’s why the process need to be well in place and kept up to date at all time . And this call is never an easy one, you do not know what it will be at the other end (remember 9/11). Making those calls can be exhausted and terrible too. And I want to make sure, everyone understand that’s a two way street. The person making the call is exposed to a shock too.

Everyone is important. Your safety is important.

I hope everyone is doing well today and recuperate from that highly stress period that was Monday afternoon.

Take care…really.

Find your life path with a test?

No one can answer for you what direction your life should take, which career or job you should choose, no one but you.  It can be hard to find or define. I wish someone could tell me:”here what you need to do”, and I would follow the instruction. But it doesn’t work that way. We all have our own dreams, talents, experience and karma. Defining ourselves can be tricky.  In this world of being a product ourselves, developing our brand is important. Last thing we want it’s to have a label stick in our forehead right? How do I know myself? What is my true calling?  Am I at the right place? What are my strengths? We play some many roles in life that a little guidance can certainly be appreciated. In my job, we sometime use different psychometric test for hiring, succession planning, career counselling, etc. Those tests are also use in self-development and psychotherapy. They might help you reveal a more objective light on your own style of relating to life, and where you may best thrive.  I really like the different test that offers MBTI. I used different test from them for employees and for myself and always appreciated the result. I invite you to consult the: MBTI Foundation.
The purpose of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) personality inventory is to make the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung understandable and useful in people’s lives. The essence of the theory is that much seemingly random variation in the behavior is actually quite orderly and consistent, being due to basic differences in the ways individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment.
“Perception involves all the ways of becoming aware of things, people, happenings, or ideas. Judgment involves all the ways of coming to conclusions about what has been perceived. If people differ systematically in what they perceive and in how they reach conclusions, then it is only reasonable for them to differ correspondingly in their interests, reactions, values, motivations, and skills.”
With this free test, you will also found out the personality of famous people such as: Martin Luther King, Oprah, etc.
I recommend the test. It’s free and will take less than 5 minutes of your time and it can highlight what you cannot express about your strengths and potential directions. If you take the test, let me know if it echoes with you, paste your chart on your fb page!

Cheers

In my shoes...

Today, it's a busy day. I am meeting with important people from a personnal point of view and business.
I am starting the day with a coffee with the Chief Talent Officer of a Global "fantastic" company.
Then, I am flying back home over lunch, to assist to an executive meeting with the Board and the North America President. And after, I am going to a hockey game in a loge with the Chief Commercial Officer of Canada of another great global company (I don't know this person.)

And in between, I have to resolve an issue with a sensitive employee situation. It's the end of the quarter, and  I need to make sure we get all the data for our global meetings next week, and I absoluty need to finalize another employee issue that escalate to the EVP.... never a dull moment.

So, today, I dressed up the part! I went for black skirt and top, with an off-white vest. I really feel great. Dreessing the part, make me feel more confident and happy...even if sometime my wallet disagree ;)
And I am wearing those shoes... (I LUV shoes!) high heel black patent shoes...they are my size but for some reason, they are not fitting my feet. When I walk, it's acting like flip-flop....
I had no time, to run to the store to buy sole, so I improvise it with carefully fold napkins! No one knows...But I don't have to walk with stiff legs and look like a robot!

I hope this day will make a difference. I guess it already did.....And I am secretly thinking about my sweat pants, my couch and my hubby....
